President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, revealed on Friday the content of his talks with US President Donald Trump during the meeting that took place on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland.
Barzani said in a statement today, that “the talks with the US President, Donald Trump, focused on the relationship of the Kurdistan region with the federal government in Baghdad,” stressing that “Trump expressed his appreciation for the region’s embrace of the various religious and national components, and on consolidating a culture of coexistence and tolerance, as well as He expressed his gratitude to the Peshmerga forces that fought ISIS. ”
Barzani had confirmed in a previous statement during his participation in a symposium entitled “The Turbulent Middle East” within the work of the Davos Economic Forum, “The current conditions in Iraq are not the same as before and will not return as they were before the protests, and that the new generation feels that the authority does not provide it with the lowest essentials of modern life.” He called, “The Iraqi parties to the need for serious dialogue on all problems to reach satisfactory solutions.”
On the presence of the American forces, Barzani pointed out that “these forces are present at the invitation of Iraq, and by agreement between the two parties after the emergence of ISIS in 2014.”
He said, “These forces provide training and advice to the Iraqi forces in the war against ISIS, and we find that it is necessary for the American forces to remain and what happened in the Iraqi parliament was not correct.”
