Disclosure of a movement led by Sadr and al-Amiri to choose the next prime minister of Iraq within a week

Deputy al-Fateh coalition, Karim al-Muhammadawi, said on Saturday 18/1-2020 that the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the head of the coalition, Hadi al-Amiri, are continuing to resolve the selection of a prime minister for this week.

“There are signs that pave the way for the selection of a new prime minister during the current week or a little more than that,” Karim al-Muhammadawi said in an interview with (Baghdad Today), noting that “there is agreement on this file among the Shiite political forces, especially after their unification.”

Al-Muhammadawi added, “Four names will be nominated to the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to choose one of them for the position of Prime Minister,” noting that “these personalities are not previously presented and are independent and will be satisfactory to the demonstrators.”

The MP from the Al-Fateh Alliance in Parliament pointed out, “Communication between the head of the coalition, Hadi al-Amiri, and the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to resolve the prime minister’s choice very soon.”

The head of the Bayraq al-Khair Parliamentary Bloc, MP Muhammad Othman Al-Khaldi, expected on Tuesday (January 14, 2020) that the personality of the new prime minister would be independent and close to the demonstrators, while he indicated that the return of Adel Abdul Mahdi to the post had become impossible.

Al-Khalidi told (Baghdad Today), that “the success of any candidate in reaching the prime minister must be accepted by 4 parties, which are each of the 170 representatives who signed the specifications for the next prime minister, which came out of the crisis according to a national framework and the presidency of the republic and political forces.” And the protesters. ”

While he pointed out that “the blocs supporting Abdul Mahdi cannot be a majority,” he saw that “the beneficiaries of the caretaker head and the renewal of confidence in him are the Kurdish parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Democratic Party led by Masoud Barzani.”

Al-Uqabi described the state of the political blocs that support the survival of Adel Abdul-Mahdi as “someone blowing a perforated sieve.”

On Sunday (1 December 2019), the House of Representatives had accepted the resignation of the Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, in accordance with Article 75 of the Constitution.

The political forces failed to choose a substitute for Abdul-Mahdi to head the next government during the period specified by the constitution, which is 15 days, and the constitutional breach became evident after exceeding the specified period.
