The second deputy speaker of parliament, Bashir Haddad, said on Friday that if President Barham Saleh does not withdraw his message to the parliament within a week, it will be considered a resignation. ”
Haddad said in a statement to Kurdish media, today, that “if the President of the Republic does not withdraw his message within a week, it will be considered a resignation and in this case, according to the constitution, his deputy should succeed him.”
He continued, “Given that there is no vice president, the Iraqi constitution requires that the speaker of parliament assume the position and that a president be appointed within 30 days.”
He stressed the need for the Federal Court to issue a clarification that President Barham Saleh’s message is ready for resignation and not clear resignation, as he put it.
