An informed source said, on Saturday, that the Iraqi authorities were unaware of the presence of a senior figure coming to Baghdad airport on the night of the killing of General Qassem Soleimani.
Russian media quoted the source, who was not identified, as saying in a press statement today, January 4, 2020, that the plane that was carrying Qasim Soleimani belonged to the Syrian “Wings of the Levant” company, and the Iraqi authorities had no knowledge of the presence of a senior figure Or a mission on that plane.
He added that “the time of the plane’s arrival was at 11:30 pm last Thursday, but it arrived an hour after the due date due to a delay from its take-off place in Syria.”
He explained that “the plane stopped at Gate No. 21 at Baghdad International Airport, and Soleimani did not pass through the official outlets at the airport, but was waiting for him at the plane, two cars, the first type (Starex) and the second (Avillon), and one of them went up and went out before the travelers.”
He stressed that “when the bombing occurred, the security authorities at the airport asked the passengers unofficially, is there an important figure in the plane, and some of them answered yes, we saw Qassem Soleimani,” noting that “the security authorities at the airport started investigating some travelers at the same hour and with a representative The company that said I cannot know the travelers, they are traveling just like everyone else. ”
The source added that “after returning to Baghdad airport cameras, the two cars that were waiting for Soleimani appeared,” indicating that “no one was arrested against the background of the incident, and that there are investigations at a high level.”
